THE JOB AND ITS REQUIREMENTS
Lead the development of PEM fuel cell stack design from the initial scoping, over design/simulation and testing to running prototypes from short stack to full scale production stacks. Lead a team for simulation of CFD, FEA, Water Management, and other analysis tools to optimize the fuel cell stack. Coordinate the stack and bipolar plate Engineers to design and improve the flow fields of the bipolar plates. Focus on the mechanical and thermal behaviors of the Stack and the first fluid mechanic simulation in the design phase. Extend the simulation model after the first design phase with the electrochemical behavior of the MEAs and stack (e.g. two-phase flows, thermo- and fluid mechanics and degradation). Work closely with the MEA department and external institutes. Lead all parts of the development team to validate the simulation model, optimize the whole stack and work with MEA department to optimize (performance, durability, dimensions, and weight).
Based on the theoretical calculations and experimental results, design a simulation model for electrochemical degradation mechanisms for predictions of the MEA lifetime.
Evaluate plate sealing technologies and plate forming processes, including work with suppliers to develop novel solutions. Create a Design for Manufacturing effort toward production with suppliers. Education Background: Bachelor of Science (Masters Preferred). Experience: 7 years in fuel cell stack applications.
