Come join the Nikola Motor’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems / Autonomous Driving (ADAS/AD) Team as an Autonomous Driving Data Engineer for Perception, Sensor Fusion, and Object Tracking. This role will play a major part in enabling Nikola vehicles with the highest ADAS technology and Autonomous features.

What you’ll own:

Be responsible for designing perception algorithms and implementing them in robust, efficient, and well-tested C++ code.

Lead the development of deep neural networks to solve real-world robotics perception challenges such as lane detection, object detection and classification, sensor fusion, tracking, prediction, anomaly detection, and planning.

Point cloud processing on camera, lidar, 4D radars data and curate datasets for machine learning.

Integrate both novel and well-established techniques such as deep neural networks, decision trees, Kalman, and particle filters.

Collaborate closely with other experts on the team, including the planning and systems engineering team.

Support to define feature requirements, safety requirements, use-cases, and the performance expectations needed to meet functionality, safety, and reliability objectives.

Success for this role will be maintaining and developing automated data processing pipelines and curating datasets to help improve ADAS/AV development. Implement automated reports and custom analysis scripts to help improve ADAS/Controls algorithms.

Do your capabilities include:

Fluency with ADAS/Autonomous Concepts, Development

Proficiency in C++

Fluent on machine learning, robotics, and artificial intelligence for autonomous driving

What you “MUST” already bring to the table:

  • BS degree (Master’s preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a technical related degree.
  • 2 - 8 years of solid experience in ADAS systems requirements or ADAS feature development.
  • Expertise with Automated Driving Sensors (Radar, Camera, Lidar, Ultrasonic)
  • Strong knowledge of Automotive Networks (CAN, CANFD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, etc.)

Additional “nice to have” Profile Characteristic:

  • Experience with Python, R, or other data relevant scripting languages preferred. C++ plus
  • Experience in big data processing and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets. (SQL, Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Beam, etc.)
  • Machine learning, data visualization experience preferred
  • Experience with Data Pipeline implementation
  • Maintain and improve existing data pipelines
