Nikola Motor is looking for a highly motivated CAE NVH Staff Engineer to add to our growing team in the Phoenix, Arizona. This person will use CAE tools to improve passenger experience when it comes to noise and vibration across battery-electric and fuel-cell programs and provide feedback to design teams. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the design of first-generation battery-electric and hydrogen fuel-cell trucks.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Conduct all levels of NVH analyses including, but not limited to, modal analysis / dynamic stiffness analysis / NTF / VTF / TPA for BIW / Trimmed body / full vehicle to address noise and vibration issues.
  • Working with Chassis, CAB, and Integration teams to validate & optimize the designs.
  • Optimize the structure from concept to detailed design for weight and NVH performance.
  • Evaluate the body structure stiffness and dynamic stiffness, trim body in white and perform acoustic sensitivity studies.
  • Support component, sub-systems, and vehicle physical testing to correlate the CAE model
  • Develop NVH targets of component performance, participating in testing and development of vehicle.
  • Lead NVH Projects by working with vehicle validation team, design team, and suppliers.
Basic Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree (in Mechanical/Aerospace, or related engineering discipline). Ph. D. is preferred.
  • 15 years of CAE NVH experience and at least 5 years in leadership role in CAE projects.
  • Highly skilled in “hands on” CAE NVH Model development (Full Vehicle/ Sub-system).
  • Experience on developing vehicle structure from concept to launch.
  • Proven expertise in structural and vibro-acoustic analysis methods such as modal alignment / NTF / VTF / TPA .
  • Expert level in FEA tools such as Hypermesh /Hyperview /NASTRAN / Optistruct, and VAOne is a plus.
  • Experience of Test-Simulation correlation in the component / sub-system / vehicle level NVH models.
  • Experience in component and sub-system tests and data analysis is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver analysis results in a tight schedule within a collaborative team environment.
  • Proven experience in product development for automotive industry & experience in class 8 heavy trucks is preferred.

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.  This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
