Chassis Dyno Test Technician

Phoenix, Arizona


This position will be at both our HQ in Phoenix and our manufacturing plant in Coolidge, AZ.

We’re on the lookout for a Chassis Dyno Test Technician Senior Chassis Dyno Test Technician to support all test and validation of our high voltage E-Powertrain. In this role you’ll be making changes to hardware setup and mechanical systems, including removing and replacing motor and axle assemblies, instrumentation, shop testing and test setup, implementing related procedures, and supporting data reporting. You’ll assist the Lead Senior Chassis Dyno Engineer in planning and managing all tests for e-axles, motors, and inverters. You’ll be intricately engaged with the DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) development and testing of multiple programs, powertrain dyno testing, chassis dyno, durability testing, thermal performance, EMC, NVH, and in some cases track and road testing. 

Additionally, you’ll: 

  • Be involved with all aspects of component and system level testing, including kick-off meeting, test procedures, and report generation
  • Understand and implementing testing efforts for the validation plan of the development team
  • Ensure the timely delivery of testing milestones, including facility and equipment installations
  • Follow instructions and guidance on complex or unique problems as laid out by engineering teams
  • Implement the hardware requirement for test setups
  • Track and assist in preparing the report of testing activities such as testing results, test case coverage, required resources, identified defects, performance baselines
  • Collaborate with Lead Powertrain Validation Engineer to ensure the high-level architecture proposals work within acceptable parameters
  • Fabricate prototype test setups and hardware-in-the-loop testers to integrate new subsystems with simulated and actual vehicle components
  • Work with Powertrain Engineering teams to ensure the relevant subsystems are implemented with appropriate requirements, interfaces and interactions to achieve specific vehicle functions
  • Collaborate with the design, integration, and validation teams to implement tests which will validate the functions, interfaces, and interactions of the system. Identify areas of concern, and work with teams to rectify any bugs
  • Work jointly with the engineering and validation teams to implement tests which will validate the functions, the interfaces and interactions


  • College or Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering, or relevant related certifications, or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in shop and automotive environments, preferably working with motor dynos and similar complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Preferred strong foundation of electrified powertrain concepts (motor, inverter, gearbox, and battery systems)
  • The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including essential technical assistance to support Lead Powertrain Validation Engineer
  • The ability to work independently
  • Must have the ability to deliver succinct written and verbal communication and make timely decisions
  • Hands-on technical experience debugging complex mechanical systems
  • Experience safely working with high voltage
  • Creative capacity for developing new ways to integrate complex system better and faster in alignment with the aggressive industry approach to revolutionary product development
  • Must be highly motivated and able to manage multiple assignments concurrently with limited supervision, including for day-to-day operations
