Description

We are on the lookout for an experienced Controls Development Engineer to join the Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Controls team. You will be responsible for the development and coordination efforts surrounding Nikola’s Fuel Cell Electric body controls. This will include doing both internal development and external, implementation, optimization, and testing of powertrain control functions. You will work closely with other Nikola's controls engineers, as well as manage deliverables from tier 1 hardware and software teams to provide production ready vehicle control software for Nikola’s Fuel Cell Electric Cab Bodies. You will also support the calibration and testing of the systems to meet vehicle requirements.  In addition to the requirements below, a successful candidate will understand the fundamentals of electrical circuits and be able to understand wiring schematics.  Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Computer or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 3+ years of experience performing model-based development using Simulink, including code generation
  • 3+ years of experience with coordinating external controls development with Tier 1 Suppliers
  • Strong knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience verifying software using model-in-loop and software-in-loop techniques
  • Familiarity with git version control
  • Experience in developing requirements and designing to requirements
  • Strong understanding of CAN and LIN protocols
  • In-vehicle debug and calibration experience using tools such as Vector CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape
Preferred Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience performing model-based development using Simulink, including code generation
  • Familiarity with C and programming considerations for microcontrollers
  • Knowledge of other scripting languages

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
