Director, Supply Chain and Purchasing, Chassis

We are actively looking for a highly talented and experienced Director, Supply Chain and Purchasing to lead the Nikola Supply Chain Chassis Team, sourcing direct materials related to all Metallic Systems. This role will work with cross functional teams to support all NPI and production related activities for the Nikola Two and TRE in Europe and North America. This position reports directly to Nikola’s Head of Supply Chain and Logistics. 

As the Director, you will lead the way in sourcing, costing, negotiating, and strategic planning functions for the Metallic category in our revolutionary Fuel Cell and Battery Electric vehicles. You will work closely within cross-functional teams to drive early supplier engagement throughout the development phases and product qualifications. You will build a strong internal team along with strong strategic relationships with supply partners to ensure project timing and cost targets are met. You will determine the total cost of ownership for your commodities by understanding the underlying cost drivers supporting new business awards. 


  • Lead and develop your team
  • Establish and manage Nikola’s Supply base to ensure the best Suppliers are selected to support all development, prototyping and production activity
  • Lead all RFP/RFQ activities for your respective area
  • Analyze supplier proposals and negotiate all aspects of the quotation to drive down the total cost of ownership and ensure world class pricing
  • Manage supplier relationships including monitoring supplier performance and competitiveness
  • Recommend and effectively present to leadership sourcing strategies for multiple programs that meet the business objectives and timelines
  • Build relationships across multiple teams (Finance, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality) and work across different levels in the organization to ensure program timelines are achieved


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required (master’s degree is a plus)
  • 10+ years in Supply Chain and Purchasing with a minimum of 7 years in Leadership
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and experience sourcing Metallic Systems.
  • New Product Introduction experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in Automotive, Commercial Vehicle, or an Electric Vehicle Start-up is a plus.
  • Global Travel as needed – 25%
