We’re currently on the lookout for an Electrical and Electronic Systems Automation Software Engineer. The Nikola electrical and controls department maintains an electrical integration bench for each of its vehicle platforms. These benches are used to create a system and component testing environment for controls development, network testing, electrical testing, and functional testing.

 You Will:

  • Develop a suite of automated functional regression tests to be executed on the electrical integration bench
  • Analyze electrical and functional system requirements to develop and execute validation plans
  • Create component and system testing environments to electrically profile components
  • Read logical and physical schematics to understand how a particular function is implemented and how to modify it for the testing environment
  • Communicate issues found in testing to external and internal groups
  • Automate the creation of test reports based on validation plans

 You are familiar with:

  • Python, CAPL, and/or other scripting languages
  • Electrical architecture of electric vehicles
  • CAN, LIN, and other common automotive networks
  • Using standard lab test equipment like oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, etc.
  • Automotive connectors and how they are assembled
  • Automotive controllers, sensors, and actuators
  • Measuring electrical characteristics such as resistance, capacitance, inductance, voltage, and current
  • Common systems in electric or fuel cell vehicles like electronic power steering, suspension, safety, powertrain, etc.
  • Vector tools like CANalyzer, CANape, and CANoe

 You Have:

  • At least 3 years' experience in automated testing environments
  • A bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or related engineering field


Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
