We are on the lookout for an EE Component Design and Release Engineer to own EE component design, development, packaging, testing, calibration, and releasing. As the EE Component Design and Release Engineer you will interface with systems group to define vehicle functional specifications.

 YOU WILL:

  • Set up project timelines for following up with the maturity of components from selection, sourcing, technical development to PPAP and production.
  • Develop component level specifications.
  • Participate in Product Assurance Planning (Program Management)
  • Manage the supplier of the components; and component DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis), DVRR (Design Validation and Reliability Report), and Timing Proactive Quality Plan.
  • Participate in Reactive Quality Problem Solving and will be supporting Supplier Quality during Process Sign-off (PS) and PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis).
  • Responsible for releasing components via Change Management System (CN’s) and will interface with supplier quality, purchasing, program management, however mostly with suppliers.
  • Change Control
    • Maintain part release system for wire harnesses and provisional components.
    • Review engineering change documents for completeness and accuracy
    • Communicate to supplier the content and status of the design, design changes, and build requirements
    • Manage cost studies for changes with suppliers.
    • Update engineering issues in change management systems
  • Engineering Customer Interface
    • Lead supplier interface for technical issues and program engineering deliverables
    • Travel to Supplier manufacturing locations for supplier development, ramp-up and wire harness builds.
    • Represent Nikola Engineering at change control meetings and design reviews (e.g., technical design review, digital buck review, system compatibility review, etc.)
    • Support vehicle builds and launches at pilot and assembly plants
YOU HAVE: 
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university.
  • 3+ years of component development experience.
  • Full understanding of automotive electronic component development process.
  • Strong leadership skills (prepare to lead a supplier team)
  • Proficient in Microsoft project for setting up project timelines
  • Preferred Requirements:
    • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
    • Experience managing suppliers and/or engineers.
    • Familiar with electrical architecture and wiring,
    • Familiar with Audio or Sound System Exp.
    • Familiar with Ethernet and CAN/CAN-FD protocols.
    • Outstanding communication and organization skills.
  • Travel and Driving Requirements:
    • Will be required to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
