Nikola is looking for an experienced and proven Engineering Manager for its E/E Hardware Systems team to manage the design of low and high voltage architecture, requirements, and functions.

You will:

  • Be a leader and SCRUM master of the ~10 person E/E Hardware Systems team.
  • Manage team sprints on a per project basis in Jira and assign tasks with clear deliverables to the team.
  • Be a technical resource for and contribute to the following team deliverables:
    • Vehicle level schematics showing the connectivity of low and high voltage networks
    • Commissioning support for the first built vehicles in each vehicle build phase
    • E/E System simulations of pre-charge, passive and active discharge, and transient cases
    • Select circuit protection devices to be used in E/E architecture based components
    • Python scripts to propagate requirements for all components within the E/E vehicle component list
    • Grounding architecture of the vehicle and requirements related to EMC
    • Impact analysis on the team's deliverables for change requests
    • Hardware configuration files for configurable ECUs used in Nikola platforms
    • E/E device electrical profiles and connectivity specifications
    • E/E System requirements for the platform that will be cascaded to engineering groups that own E/E components
    • E/E System requirements for internally developed E/E devices.
  • Report status out in company technical forums in collaboration with the E/E Systems Project Engineering team
  • Coordinate team deliverables with the E/E Systems Project Engineering team to align the team to the company objectives and timing
  • Coordinate with the E/E Systems Test Automation group to verify E/E Hardware Systems requirements through vehicle logs, the electrical integration bench, and the E/E component library.

You'll need: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant degree (Masters preferred)
  • At least 10 years experience in automotive E/E architecture
  • Taken a design through the ISO26262 development process
  • Technical expertise in automotive high and low voltage architecture in BEV and FCEV vehicles
  • Familiarity with common automotive E/E components used in electric vehicles such as on board chargers, DCDC converters, inverters, motors, AC compressors, heaters, batteries, control modules, sensors, and more
  • Experience in developing products for battery or fuel cell electric vehicles
  • Fluency with common electrical components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, IGBTs, and MOSFETs.

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.  This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
