Description

Nikola is working to revolutionize the transportation and energy industries by developing zero emission trucks and building hydrogen infrastructure.

The Head of Nikola Energy Europe will report to Nikola’s President of Energy and Commercial and focus on the following: 

  • Originate and manage commercial relationships for energy supply for the company for Europe from development of production sources to delivery into stations across the value chain
  • Structure and negotiate complex deals and partnerships in Europe for energy production and supply to stations
  • Coordinate activities with Infrastructure & Commercial Operations to plan and evaluate supply portfolio requirements including economic and carbon intensity optimization and balancing Nikola production and third-party supply offtake in Europe
  • Coordinate commercial activities with the Technology and Product Development team as it evaluates technology options for production and P&O on station assets, providing economic validation and contract structuring support to ensure a high degree of integration across all commercial transactions
  • Oversee the procurement of energy (hydrogen, PPA, RNG, feedstocks) and environmental credits as required (e.g., REC’s, offsets, carbon credits) to reduce the carbon intensity of supply and meet physical position and portfolio requirements
  • Coordinate efforts with the Energy Trading and Hydrogen Fuel Sales teams to optimize and place excess hydrogen supply into markets yielding highest netback and value
  • Develop market access and relationships with third party brokers, traders, and suppliers
  • Work with the company’s Legal and Finance teams to execute master agreements with counterparties and brokers and establish credit and legal requirements 

We are looking for candidates with keen commercial and business acumen combined with deep renewables and energy industry knowledge (20+ years), including an ability to analyze competing alternatives to maximize value to Nikola. We want experienced and well-known talent in the renewables industry that can move fast in developing and delivering on objectives to support Nikola’s long-term growth.  Importantly, we need a driven, self-motivated, and organized person who yearns to play an impactful role in shaping the zero emission solutions of the future.

Candidates should have an undergraduate or graduate degree in business, energy, engineering, mathematics, economics, programing, or a related discipline.  15+ years of related experience in renewables energy, contract negotiations, relationship development, and risk management are required.  Advanced degrees or accreditation are an asset.

Candidates must have current German work authorization for working in the EU.
