Hydrogen Storage Technical Specialist Germany

Complement our hydrogen storage team by supporting activities in Europe, including participating in prototype truck fabrication, vehicle-level, system-level and component-level validation, supporting EU-funded projects and regulations, codes and standards initiatives.  10+ years experience in hydrogen storage technologies including fuel tanks and balance of plant components. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent. This role will be based in Ulm, Germany.



  • Liaise with EU-based hydrogen storage system suppliers providing solutions for the fuel tank, on-tank valves, pressure regulator, fittings/tubing, etc.
  • Support the fabrication of hydrogen storage systems for installation into prototype and early production fuel cell trucks.
  • Arrange, witness and support as needed the validation and endurance testing of hydrogen storage systems at all functional levels: vehicle, system and component.
  • Participate in hydrogen industry organizational meetings with Clean Energy Partnership, NOW, EU-JHU, etc.
  • Attend regulations, codes and standards meetings based in the EU.
  • Communicate and coordinate activities and results with the hydrogen storage and fuel cell teams.
  • Document and maintain company documents, including drawings, specifications, analysis, results, and external & internal presentations.
  • Support efficient issue/risk identification, communication, tracking, and resolution.
  • Maintain professional relationships and leverage networks through frequent and open effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, Applied Science or similar.
  • 10+ years’ experience in the assessment and/or development of hydrogen storage and related fuel cell electric vehicle technologies.
  • Possess excellent problem-solving skills, ability to identify and develop new ideas and initiatives, able to turn ideas into practical working systems and procedures; creative, hands-on mentality.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work with deadlines is a must to be successful in this position.
  • Possess good decision-making abilities with sound leadership qualities yet open, respectful and convincing.
  • Believes in sustainability and our vision to accelerate transportation decarbonization.
  • Experience working with alternative fuels including compressed natural gas and compressed hydrogen a plus.
