Description

We are on the lookout for a Hydrogen Storage Technician to support construction and service support of hydrogen equipment and fuel systems. In this role you will assist the Technology & New Product Development team with the fabrication and assembly, commissioning, and test and validation of Nikola’s Hydrogen Fuel assets supporting Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV’s).

Additionally, you will:
  • Champion hydrogen safety and be responsible for the safety of others for any work done on the Hydrogen Storage System (HSS)
  • Bend, swage, and assemble high-pressure tubing
  • Commission the HSS following procedures provided by the Hydrogen Storage team
  • Support prototype validation testing and commissioning
  • Ensure build schedules and program milestones are met
  • Collaborate with engineering and communicate issues succinctly and with agility
  • Be involved in all aspects of component and system-level assembly of the HSS
  • Work jointly with the engineering and validation teams to implement tests which will validate the functions, interfaces, and interactions of the system
  • Maintain part and system inventory, and clearly communicate shortages or quality concerns
You have:
  • College or Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering, or relevant related certifications and/or experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in shop and automotive environments
  • Preferred strong foundation in alternative fuels (CNG or Hydrogen)
  • The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including essential technical assistance to support R&D Engineers
  • The ability to work independently
  • The ability to deliver succinct written and verbal communication and make timely decisions
  • Hands-on technical experience debugging complex mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Experience working safely with high-pressure systems
  • Creative capacity for developing new ways to integrate complex systems better and faster in alignment with the aggressive industry approach to revolutionary product development
  • Motivation and able to manage multiple assignments concurrently with limited supervision, including for day-to-day operations
Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
