We’re currently on the lookout for a Lead Engineer, Vehicle Architecture who will set and manage vehicle performance and ensure all systems work in harmony while achieving specifications. As Nikola’s Vehicle Architecture Leader, you will have an impact on all aspects of the project, harmonizing engineering disciplines and resolving technical issues encountered while achieving business objectives.

As Vehicle Architecture Leader you will have broad influence throughout the entire program while disrupting the status quo as we secure a zero-emissions future with our hydrogen fuel cell electric, class 8 semi-truck.

You will:

  • Define and generate product and process specifications covering Nikola truck architectures
  • Execute vehicle integration, design reviews, and related documentation
  • Match and select vehicle elements and balance technical requirements as dictated by vehicle application, and factoring in system energy efficiency, performance, dependability, safety, and lifecycle costs
  • Configuring and integrating vehicle systems with layout, packaging and assembly requirements
  • Apply industry and experience-based standards and best practices to the design of Nikola truck portfolio
You have:
  • BS ME or EE, master's preferred
  • Eight or more years related experience in electric vehicle development and design. Class 8 truck experience highly desirable
  • Experience with CAD with DMU and CAE applications is highly desirable. (Preference for Catia V5/V6 experience)
  • Working understanding of the concept creation and execution of calculations required to evaluate and improve 'clean sheet' engineering/design
  • Experience and understanding of project timeline for electric vehicle design, engineering and test, and development programs
  • Experience taking existing vehicle subsystem components and determining acceptability to new program requirements
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality assurance topics related to electric vehicle componentry
  • Experience in coordinating technical discussions between multi-disciplinary vehicle teams and developing well integrated and balanced solutions across different vehicle systems
