The Materials Planning Manager will work closely with Program management, Purchasing and Logistics, Production and Production Planning to ensure NIKOLA’s materials planning are effectively available at site to enable the factory to be successful. The Materials Planning Manager will ensure material availability to the warehouse or 3PL overseeing a group of  materials planners professionals and interacting with different departments.

You will

  • Ensure  that  material  scheduling  strategy  and  processes  are  in  place  and work  effectively  in  order  to  ensure  material  supply  meets  production requirements  with  minimum  stock levels, whilst  optimizing  costs.
  • Take  ownership  of  material  planning  issues  that  arise,  including  over  or under  delivery  and  take  any  follow  up  actions  especially  in  the  event  of material shortages that  affect  production.
  • Assess volume  requirements  against  planning  assumptions.
  • Manage inventory  risk and  ensure  that  contingency  plans are in  place.
  • Seek  and  recommend  solutions  to  overcome  issues  arising  in  order  to meet  production  requirements  and  address  operational risks.
  • Design,  develop  and  implement  flexible  solutions  to  aid . business efficiency,  drive  process improvements  and  add  value
  • Support continuous improvement  initiatives.
  • Ensure  that  professional, leading edge techniques and  consistent  materials  planning  processes  are applied  across  the  business.
  • Ensure  that  any  Material  Requirements  Planning  system  (MRP)  or  IT system  in  place  is  effective  and  that  data  is  accurate  and  up  to  date  and resolve  any  issues as required.
  • Investigate  and  implement  system  enhancement  initiatives.
  • Take  overall  responsibility  for  obsolete  parts  process  and  ensure  business is left  with  minimum  liability  and  minimal waste.
  • Ensure  strategic  and  operational  information,  reports  and  metrics  are available  to  share with  others in  the  business  as and  when  required.
  • Report on  achievement  of  targets  and  identify  any  corrective  action.
You'll need
  • 7 years related experience in materials management, production planning, material scheduling, or purchasing in a manufacturing company is required. Automotive or Class 8 truck preferred.
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline and six or more years of progressive experience in planning, scheduling, and performance measurement. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education. Strong understanding of Bill of Materials and Routings, and their impact on MRP & build plan schedules.
  • Good  working  knowledge  and  experience  of  using  Material  Requirements Planning  (MRP)  systems through Dynamics 365  or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical capabilities - including data analysis to optimize plans relative to different constraint factors (equipment capacity, staffing plans, material availability) is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in analytical and reporting tools (MS Excel, Tableau) is strongly desired.
  • Experience managing change thru a factory (i.e., New Product Introductions).
  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Results  orientated  and  organized  with  the  ability  to  plan  and  deliver against  deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency & positive attitude.
  • Must be a decision maker.
  • Must be able to communicate issues and provide solutions and options.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to initiate, plan, manage, delegate required tasks independently and, in a team, environment.

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.  This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
