We’re currently on the lookout for a Service Technician who will perform a critical role in developing and executing service, repairs and troubleshooting on Nikola Motor’s Class 8 Battery Electric Vehicle, and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle, as we bring our disruptive technology to market.

Job Summary:

Master of diagnosing and completing any repair/service of the Nikola products, systems, and components in shop and or field. He or She is considered the subject matter expert of our product line.  Able to diagnose malfunctions of BEV truck and its FCEV truck systems, and their related components

This position is designed to develop individuals that have successfully completed the requirements of a Nikola service level one technician and level two technician. Five years’ experience is preferred or has the related industry experience with proven certifications. The position will be working with technicians and engineers to develop needed skills to be successful working in any setting. This candidate is the go-to when it comes to any potential malfunction that may arise. Candidate has an expert level understanding of Electrical, Hydrogen and HVAC systems for Nikola trucks. Must have a valid CDL for this position.

Essential Functions:

  • Work safely at all times-Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Expert in troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment malfunctions and failures of any sort.
  • Proven track record maintaining great client relations and support for corporate marketing objectives.
  • Mentor service level I, II in filling out detailed reports and keeping records on services that have been performed. Helping groom these moving forward in their career path.
  • Order parts needed for repairs if needed; Plan and control Nikola/Customer costs in support of the Nikola product line, providing accurate cost-effective solutions
  • Maintain company equipment – keep it in good clean orderly condition.

  Additional Responsibilities:

  • Master the Nikola systems and affiliated partnership databases.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Provide on-the-job training to technicians and helpers always being the go-to person with a hands-on approach.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Travel to remote locations as needed if phone support doesn’t get the vehicle up and running.
  • Make warranty recommendations.
  • Communicate with proper individuals to clarify instructions or discuss scope or progress of job.
  • Work within and promote corporate values
  • Work with management to create an ongoing obtainable technician improvement plan for career development.
  • Establish best practices for repairs and SOP’s always thinking of safety first.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication verbally and in writing, information, instructions, and explanations to associates, customers and management regarding diagnostic skills, problems, recommendations, and repair processes.
  • Demonstrate technical skill competence as the Master technician on the team. You are called for advice and guidance.
  • Knowledge and skills that has mastered all the Nikola systems and understand diagnostic equipment including computerized instrumentation.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.

Education and Experience:

  • Current driver’s license *Required DOT licensing, medical card, and endorsements as vehicle size dictates. *
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
  • Must complete level one and level two Nikola technician requirements or related industry experience.
  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Technical school background is preferred.
  • Expert with service tools such as Metra hit meter, Vector box and other Nikola vehicle-based diagnosing tools is required.
