We are on the lookout for a 
Materials Engineer, Paints & Topcoats to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead development and validation of processes and drive improvement projects
  • Lead development and validation of paints, topcoats, and colors
  • Develop coating technologies to fit individual applications
  • Benchmarking industry standards to develop world-class coating solutions
  • Support preparation, planning and effective execution of major coating R&D projects
  • Develop DoE’s to ensure materials effectively meet industry standards
  • Write or determine material specifications suited for related coating applications
  • Lead in developing color harmonization and measurements
  • Deep understanding of durability and accelerated testing of coatings
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define material specifications & processes, product recommendations, testing parameters, functionality, and aesthetic
  • Build relationship with key suppliers to develop and validate coating solutions and processes
  • Knowledge of pretreatment, electrodeposition, topcoat, paints, and sealers
  • Develop and implement paint DFMEA standards

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience (Preferred MS or PhD)
  • 5+ relevant experience in automotive paints and topcoat technologies
  • Product development, manufacturing, or R&D experience is required
  • Expert in automotive coating solutions
  • Knowledge of corrosion protection coatings
  • Knowledge of coatings for metallic and plastic/composite applications
  • Experience with developing, testing, and validating coating solution in automotive environment
  • Ability to work in rapidly changing environment with minimal guidance, self-starter, yet team player
  • Ability to manage one or more projects involving cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with internal groups and suppliers
