Motor Dyno Test Engineer

Phoenix, Arizona


The Motor Dyno Test Engineer will be experienced in setting up and performing Motor Dyno tests, experience with AVL Dynos and test stands, and experience troubleshooting issues with Dyno systems.

  • Superior interpersonal, planning, budgeting, and technical writing skills
  • Manage construction and commissioning of powertrain test facilities
  • Understanding of powertrain validation testing a huge plus
  • Identify and report roadblocks and risks related to Motor Dyno Testing project activities to the Senior Project Manager and Director of Propulsion Testing
  • Work with each manager and project engineer in the Motor Dyno Testing organization to plan out budget, schedule, and plan for each system testing program
  • Summarize and Report statuses and issues of all Motor Dyno testing activities
  • Coordinate with the broader system teams (functional safety, EE, etc.) to look for potential coverage gaps and develop mitigation plans where gaps exist
  • Create weekly burndown charts for Motor Dyno testing activities for each program
  • Develop processes and plans to streamline all Motor Dyno testing organizational activities and responsibilities
  • Support streamlining of data management and test management processes and systems
  • Identify and schedule testing activities at 3rd party facilities
  • Create readiness checklists to ensure all items, people, and resources are lined up to execute a program or activity
  • Experience creating professional and technical presentation and creating informative graphs based off desired metrics
  • Track progress of System Validation Plan development and procedures
  • Lead Jira Issue Management for issues identified during testing
  • Participate in root cause analysis and failure analysis activities
  • Coordinate with external test labs and suppliers to organize and execute testing
  • Document and track all issues discovered by validation testing activities and lead issue resolution efforts
  • Work with design teams, systems teams, and CAE teams to resolve issues found during testing
  • Manage and track all testing schedules and highlight and prioritize critical path tests
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experienced with electric vehicles and the Powertrain systems such as High Voltage Battery Systems, Powertrain Systems, Software/Firmware a plus
  • Strong experience with project management tools such as Excel and MS Project
  • Experience with JIRA, JAMA, and CATIA a plus
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS in ME, EE, or other related Engineering field
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
  • Strong technical writing skills is a must.
  • Able to effectively communicate and work cross-functionally across all technical teams and disciplines
  • Ability to summarize large amounts of information into fast read metrics that can be used to evaluate overall organization performance and progress
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally
