Description

Nikola is seeking a Senior Production Safety Specialist who will report to the Head of Environment, Health and Safety. The main focus will be to foster and maintain a safe work environment. The position will require travel between headquarters and other job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Provides health & safety guidance to Nikola’s production efforts
  • Design, evaluate, and continuously improve production workflows for safety and environmental concerns and risks
  • Coach and mitigate safety concerns by working directly with Manufacturing teams
  • Respond to and investigate production emergencies, incidents and accidents
  • Coordinate production facility employee health & safety training including all required federal and state training programs
  • Proactively prepare for OSHA-mandated evaluations of the site
  • Attend project planning meetings and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain health and safety communication structures
  • Maintain all safety related documents, reports, and issues to keep them updated
  • Provide continuous support to Engineering, Facilities and Manufacturing Operations staff from design to SOP
  • Ensure safety standards and guidelines are adhered to on the job site

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Health & Safety, or related field
  • A minimum of 10-12 years of safety experience
  • Current CST and/or CHST certification preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, IBC, and similar safety codes, standards, and regulations
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be available to support occasional evenings and weekends as needed
  • Must be willing to respond to site emergencies 24 hours
  • Must be willing to commute to headquarters and other job sites

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.  This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
