We’re currently on the lookout for someone to enhance the Tre BEV Launch processes & Program Standardization as we bring our disruptive technology to market. 

In this role, you will focus on the process framework and standardization, introducing economies of repetition in the planning and execution of our product programs (from concept to production launch). As a member of the PMO office, you will be the driver and source of documentation, guidance and metrics on the practice of program / project management and execution.  You will be responsible to help define, maintain and ensure project management standards across the Nikola organization.

Good problem-solving skills with first-hand knowledge of PM methodologies, tools, and techniques is an absolute must as you:

  • Develop and enhance Nikola's Vehicle Development and Program Management processes, and its ongoing continuous improvements
  • Practice the discipline of systems thinking, understanding how individual roles contribute to the bigger picture, rather than thinking in silos.
  • Work closely with the Program Managers and cross-functional disciplines to integrate lessons learned back into the process
  • Provide necessary project management support in the form of guidance to project/program managers of the organization. PMO is also responsible for coaching new project/program managers on various ways an organization can run projects & programs
  • Work closely with the Digital Engineering Systems team to ensure the deployment of new systems are in line with the organization's needs
  • Create and maintain timelines to ensure project meets program milestones
  • Coordinate functional activities and ensure matrix resource efficiencies to achieve program objectives. Matrix functions include Sales, Product Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Materials and Finance
  • Use risk management approach to anticipate and prevent problems from occurring, elevate risks to management when/if they occur
  • Provide regular project status reports to senior management
  • Manage projects as required by business needs and maintain comprehensive reports including schedule and metrics status, open issues and actions and change management summary

Success in this role requires someone with project management experience and a minimum of five years’ experience in the automotive/trucking or similar industry, with experience in at least two cross functional areas (Quality, Engineering, Operations, or Program Management).  Additionally, the role requires:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technology, Business or Project Management
  • PMP certification is strongly desired
  • Must demonstrate high levels of interpersonal communication skills with the ability to impact and influence others
  • Must be a strong team leader fostering teamwork, cooperation, and relationship building while developing others
  • Must demonstrate strong analytical thinking and problem solving using conceptual thinking
  • Excellent planning, collaboration, and facilitation skills to coordinate and leverage capabilities across a highly matrixed organization involving multiple products, channels & functions
  • Experience with vehicle electrification programs is a plus
  • Data-driven problem-solving skills, with understanding of problem-solving tools and key performance indicators / metrics
  • Ability to plan and manage complex projects crossing over many departmental lines
  • Effective communication skills, written and oral, to all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills
  • High Energy / Flexible / Adaptable / Dynamic / “can-do” attitude and works well under aggressive timelines
  • High comfort and confidence level while giving presentations to room of peers and/or stakeholders
  • Ability to influence and thrive within a rapidly changing / growing matrix organization
  • Ability to travel regionally and internationally ~ 5-10%
  • Must demonstrate achievement orientation and initiative, concern for order, quality and accuracy
