Nikola is seeking an energetic, motivated individual to become a Quality Engineer / Technical Writer who will ensure that operating system processes are correctly documented.  In this role, you will create and implement Quality Management System policies and procedures for all stages of product and process development.  You will also oversee the internal audit process and assist in the development of inspection methods, data analysis, and corrective and preventative actions for nonconformances and improvement opportunities.  The ideal candidate must have prior experience developing and publishing technical documentation. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in development and implementation of ISO 9001 business processes, quality assurance policies, and Nikola procedures
  • Be the primary quality representative for business processes
  • Support development and manufacturing processes to ensure production of consistently high-quality products that meet internal standards and customer expectations
  • Evaluate processes to validate that established systems achieve desire outputs - Oversee ongoing inspection, data collection, analysis and nonconformance corrections
  • Support / lead corrective and preventive action processes by collaborating with cross functional teams
  • Participate in change management process - document updates relative to quality processes
  • Support ISO 9001 internal audit process – plan, audit, report and review corrective actions for approval
  • Collaborate with teams to identify and implement process improvements - Improve outputs through innovation, application of unique tools, and development of new techniques

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Establish quality controls for prototype, pre-production, and production phases - Oversee tests, monitor activities, and report results
  • Ensure product and processes meet applicable requirements and reliability standards
  • Apply proven methods and tools to maintain and improve standards of quality throughout every step of the prototype and production processes
  • Review designs, specifications, and plans for changes – incorporate in quality planning processes and documentation
  • Develop methods to monitor, gauge and improve the quality of products - Determine quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree - quality, mechanical, or industrial engineering preferred; CQE certification
  • 3 or more years previous experience in a quality engineer, quality assurance, or related role with heavy focus on process development
  • 3 years internal auditing experience in ISO 9001 or equivalent management system standard
  • Must have experience with technical design specification and documentation
  • Strong mastery of the English language and grammar
  • Understanding of industry standards and best practices
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Leadership, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Problem solving, coaching, and mentoring skills

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.  This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
