This position is for an individual that is passionate about safety and eager to participate in Safety Management and Program Implementation at Nikola’s corporate headquarters facility.

This role reports to Environment, Health & Safety operations and will assist in coordinating H&S programs, implementing H&S management system elements and processes, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or similar, is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with safety certifications such as GSP, or ASP. Experience working with electric vehicles or hydrogen a plus. Automotive or Manufacturing experience a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform internal safety audits and inspections.
  • Inspect, test, and evaluate work areas, equipment, and processes to ensure they follow safety standards and government regulations.
  • Collect samples of potentially toxic materials.
  • Work with EHS team members to fix hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
  • Review and revise programs and documentation related to workplace safety and health.
  • Educate workers about workplace safety.
  • Demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment.
  • Participate in incident investigations to identify root cause and how they might be prevented in the future.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis for various activities and operations.
  • Assist with safety training, set-up, documentation, tracking and maintenance of Learning Management System records.
  • Purchase safety supplies, PPE, and equipment.

Desirable Qualities:

  • Minimum 2 years' directly related safety experience.
  • Experience in automotive, operations, or a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Current Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) preferred.
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, IBC, and similar safety codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Ability to reference OSHA standards and experience implementing regulatory requirements.
  • Good communication skills/Interpersonal skills to work successfully within a team-based system.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently.

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.  This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT
