We are seeking a Senior Component Engineering (CE) to join the Digital Engineering System team. This position will work closely with the various Nikola communities serving as a technical expert for common mechanical parts across vehicle platforms.

Responsible for CE standardization, engineering data definition, preparation of part standards and procurement control requirements, quality problem resolution, and process improvements. The candidate will be required to demonstrate familiarity with fundamental component manufacturing processes with industry specifications for components and parts.  

Role Summary:

  • Manage the CE portfolio for multiple vehicle platforms
  • Responsible for the Approved Manufacturer List (AML) Module/process within the PLM system
  • The custodian of the new standard part selection, part substitution, second source part qualification, preparation of part procurement specifications, and resolving development and production parts problems and issues
  • Responsible for monitoring standard part industry trends, design, failure modes, manufacturing capabilities, limitations, and industry
  • Design and conduct training for new and existing employees on the CE-PLM Module
  • Supports technical planning and conducts frequent internal reviews to support the identification and resolution of issues during the part life cycle
  • Review future updates for relevant changes that will affect components availability
  • Review the material compliances for individual parts/components and alternative resolutions
  • Establish Avoid Counterfeit Parts prevention program
  • Establish the Corporate CE cost center that aligned with engineering, manufacturing, and global supply management  
  • Intermediate knowledge of the mCAD modeling (CATIA 3DX or equivalent)

Day to day activities include the following:

  • Responsible for the multiple CE master data in complex heavy-duty industries (minimum Ten years)
  • Responsible for the architecture of the corporate AML/CE master data within PLM system (Preference 3DEXPERIENCE platform)
  • Manage and participate in various part standardization related projects
  • Manage the cost reduction efforts for the CE activity
  • Complete assigned Help Desk tickets efficiently and effectively that related to CE activities
  • Must have experience using BOM structure and change management and business process systems
  • Must be hands-on, motivated, and willing to help in all areas
  • BS in Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with design and manufacturing engineering environment

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.  This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
