Nikola is changing the world by revolutionizing the transportation and energy industries through the manufacturing and sale of zero-emission all electric and hydrogen fuel cell electric heavy-duty trucks and the fueling infrastructure needed to support them.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior IT Manager – Infrastructure who will design and lead, Nikola’s IT server, storage, and network operations and roadmap.  In this key role you will establish the operational delivery model using best practice methodologies and- help define a roadmap that supports our explosive growth.

Directly reporting to Head of IT, you will have responsibility for adopting and deploying server, storage, compute, and network infrastructure solutions at all Nikola sites to ensure security, performance, and availability requirements are met. You will be accountable for delivering and supporting technology solutions, in line with strategic business objectives and priorities. As the Senior IT Manager, you will provide technical insight, strategic context, and leadership. Partnering closely with the application teams, program managers, IT and business leadership, she/he will ensure business needs are clearly understood and that the technology implemented meets the needs and expectations of the business.

 You will:

  • Be responsible for the operation of a mission-critical IT infrastructure, including data center operations, network, storage, compute, and cloud solutions
  • Oversee the monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and administration of IT systems, including servers, storage, network, and databases
  • Work with IT leadership to set the vision and objectives of the IT organization that fosters a transparent, business-oriented culture with a service delivery mindset
  • Manage the IT Infrastructure Project Portfolio
  • Effectively communicating the status of projects in your domain and highlighting issues and/or risk factors to stakeholders in a timely basis
  • Ensure successful completion of enterprise initiatives by managing scope, approach, work plan, internal and third-party resources, and risks.
  • Recommend and manage critical initiatives and transformation activities across the IT infrastructure organization.
  • Manage and develop infrastructure team metrics to drive accountability and achieve both organizational and individual goals
  • Analyze results to identify trends and opportunities for continual improvement.
  • Partner with business and technology subject-matter experts to elicit and translate business requirements into technological solutions.
  • Own the Change Management, Configuration Management, and Problem Management processes.
  • Be accountable for system reliability and availability
  • Partner with business stakeholders to establish appropriate service level objectives and implement technology and processes to achieve these SLA objectives.
  • Develop department and project budgets and manage spending within the IT Infrastructure function
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and activities
  • Maintain an understanding of industry and technology trends and how they may impact business operations
  • Assesses the impact of industry trends to current and future enterprise infrastructure needs and projects

 You Have:

  • 5+ years of hands-on management of IT operations and infrastructure responsibility with broad exposure to system integrations, migrations, upgrades, and maintenance. Preferably in a large, enterprise environment
  • Outstanding management capabilities, including the ability to build and lead high performance teams
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience managing goals and performance levels, coaching, and career development
  • Strong project management background developing and executing plans on multiple complex projects simultaneously and using standard methodologies
  • Strong vendor management skills
  • Experience establishing and managing relationships with and the performance of infrastructure solution provides and cloud vendors to ensure client objectives and SLAs are being achieved
  • Understanding of security frameworks (e.g. NIST, CIS, ISO)
  • Experience assessing and implementing security controls
  • Ability and background to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to build consensus and to present complex presentations
  • Ability to explain complex technical detail and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and drive transformation
  • Bachelor or Masters in CS, MIS, Software Engineering, or equivalent engineering/technical degree

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
