The Senior Manager of High Voltage Test and Validation will perform a critical role in developing and managing battery testing validation for all vehicle programs on Nikola Motor’s Various Vehicle Product lines. The candidate must have a strong working knowledge high voltage battery testing and validation. The Senior Manager will be responsible for supporting setup and will manage the high voltage test lab, module test lab, and cell test lab and managing the battery testing team.

Responsibilities:
  • Extensive experience in programming and troubleshooting AVL Lynx Test Stands is a must
  • Strong connections and relationships with 3rd party test labs with an extensive knowledge base of various test site and test lab capabilities
  • Strong understanding of battery systems and BMS controls
  • Work with Vehicle EE and controls teams to acquire requirements for validation testing of the Vehicle Control Module (VCM) and Battery System.
  • Experience with testing battery packs/subpacks
  • Experience with testing and validating of battery modules
  • Manage Battery Test Engineers and Technicians
  • Identify and book labs that will meet battery validation and testing requirements at third party labs
  • Plan and Manage schedule for onsite and off-site battery testing
  • Define KPIs for Battery Test and Validation Team
  • Test Procedure Development
  • Ability to perform well as both a highly experienced battery test and validation engineer and a technical manager that can build and manage a battery validation engineering and battery test engineering team
  • Strong experience using CAN Tools and analyzing CAN data
  • Support DVP development
  • Experience with instrumentation, sensors, and transducers.
  • Strong data analysis experience
  • Ability to analyze raw data and create validation and test reports
  • Ability to create both detailed engineering technical reports and documentation and simplified presentations correlating validation activities to costs and other metrics understood and prioritized by business units
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experienced with vehicle HV architecture and a strong understanding of High Voltage Battery Systems
  • Data Analysis experience with Concerto, MATLAB, or other relevant tools
  • Proven ability to identify and solve complex engineering problems
  • Experience with JIRA and JAMA a plus
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS in ME, EE, or other related Engineering field or 10 years of Battery Validation and Test engineering experience with at least 2 years in a lead or management role with direct reports in lieu of degree
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Able to effectively communicate and work cross-functionally across all technical teams and disciplines
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally
Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
