We’re currently on the lookout for a Senior Technician, FCEV Control Systems who will be responsible for supporting the Controls hardware group in Nikola’s Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle platform projects. As Nikola’s FCEV Senior Technician, you will be an important cog to implementing the Controls team’s solutions from the component bench level to the vehicle level.


You Will:

  • Design and build test fixtures necessary to execute ECU verification and validation tasks.
  • Install, repair, and modify engineering ECU systems (such as harnesses, endpoints and control modules) at the bench and vehicle levels in support development and test efforts.
  • Provide a first line of defense to debug basic electrical, mechanical and software issues for both bench and full vehicle implementations.
  • Support validation and verification engineering activities as required to bring the ECU from component prototype to vehicle road release for production both through testbench/vehicle setup and dynamic test execution through test track/public roadway vehicle test runs.
  • Contribute as a team member to test bench implementation plans.

You Have:

  • Five or more years related experience in automotive validation field as a technician.
  • Class 8 truck and/or electric vehicle experience highly desirable.
  • Capability to identify vehicle issues and identifying solutions and/or relaying pertinent diagnosis to appropriate engineering teams.
  • Strong experience with technician support of electronic control systems, high voltage battery systems and low voltage systems.
  • Valid CDL license is preferred.
  • Experience with supporting V&V efforts by operating vehicles at high speeds on various road surfaces and weather conditions both on test tracks and on public roadways is preferred.
  • Experience using test and measurement tools such as oscilloscopes, single ended probes, differential probes, multimeters, amp meters, spectrum analyzers etc is preferred.
  • Effective technical writing and communication skills.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally.

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
