Drive Forward. Introduce yourself to us and let’s start a conversation. We’re currently on the lookout for Engineer, Vehicle Durability to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. As a member of our V & V team, you will play a critical role through the design and development of Nikola products by validating world-class vehicle designs.

You Will:

  • Develop sensor map in consultation with design, CAE and key supplier engineers
  • Identify test equipment and instrumentation for vehicle level testing and measurement.
  • Work with internal or external instrumentation team for installation of various sensors such as accelerometers, strain gauges, pressure transducers, thermocouples, and microphones
  • Perform/support road load data acquisition (RLDA) and full vehicle durability on proving grounds
  • Perform digital signal processing (DSP) and generate summary, PSD, cycle counting and life prediction from collected data
  • Work with internal and external labs, key system suppliers, alliance partner to develop the shaker profiles for various systems
  • Manage and track all vehicle testing schedules and highlight and prioritize critical path tests
  • Provide documentation and recommendations to design and CAE team to improve the performance of vehicle structures

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a focus on mechanical, industrial and systems, automotive, or aerospace engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of proving grounds, different durability track events, vehicle duty cycle
  • Experienced setting up and using data acquisition systems to collect road load data, noise levels, temperature, and electrical data
  • Working knowledge of any of the data acquisition eDAQ systems such as SOMAT, LMS SCADAS, NI DAQ, Dewesoft DAQ etc.
  • 2+ years of experience of any data processing tools such as nCode/Glypworks, Dewesoft, LMS Virtual.Lab, NI LabVIEW, MATLAB etc.
  • Work experience or academic background in electric vehicles, Li-Ion batteries, or fuel cells is preferred.


Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
