We are on the lookout for a Senior Vehicle Controls Engineer that will be responsible for the development, implementation, optimization, and testing of powertrain control algorithms. You will work closely with Nikola's powertrain controls engineers and embedded systems engineers to develop control systems for electric vehicle powertrains, as well as engage in calibration and testing of the systems. You will have experience working in a fast-paced environment.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Strong knowledge in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience in developing vehicle and powertrain control algorithms
  • Direct experience in vehicle-level controls design for electric or hybrid vehicles. (i.e. torque control, vehicle dynamics, battery management, charging systems, etc)
  • Experience in modeling and simulation of electric vehicle powertrain
  • Strong background in model-based System Design in MATLAB/Simulink environment
  • Knowledge in auto-code Generation in Matlab/Simulink environment
  • Solid understanding of system/component design/development processes
  • Familiar with git version control

Preferred Experience: 

  • Years of experience 8+
  • Knowledge of classical control theory, optimal controls, adaptive controls, MPC, ECMS, and state-space modeling
  • Familiarity with torque vectoring and regenerative braking algorithms
  • Familiarity with tools such as Vector CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape
  • Familiarity with SimScape
  • Proficiency with CAN, LIN Communication Protocols

Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
