The pace doesn’t scare you; it excites you. Quality and integrity matter to you. *We feel exactly the same way.* We’re currently looking for a **Weld Manager** for our Powersports division. The Weld Manager will have sole responsibility for the entire weld department, including prototyping, production fixture development, process development, building the team, managing your team, and meeting all daily production requirements and specifications. As Nikola’s Weld Manager, you will have an impact on all aspects of the project and production, from pre-production timelines to production launch and beyond, solving technical issues along the way. Throughout this entire project and production, you will have hands-on experience and broad responsibilities and influence with our NZT and Reckless Side x Side vehicles, while disrupting the status quo as we secure a zero-emissions future. **You Will:** * Review preliminary designs, make recommendations to reduce costs and improve manufacturability and quality on new or existing parts * Coordinate with weld fixture design firm to produce technically sound, robust, safe, and volume scalable fixture designs * Coordinate with fixture manufacture to deliver fixtures on time and to specification * Recommend specific weld equipment * Hire and train production staff * Develop weld processes to execute pre-production frames on time and to specification * Setup of the production facility, workstations, and cell layouts * Launch production on time and to specification * Conduct direct labor studies to establish operational standards * Manage day to day operations and staff * Direct and guide welders and robotic programmers * Assign work tasks according to priority and employee skills to meet or exceed the production schedule * Monitor and ensuring state of the art housekeeping (5S) and ensure a safe work environment * Correct safety issues and ensure compliance to environmental, productivity, quality and health & safety standards * Reinforce safety as a #1 priority * Identify continuous improvement projects and ensuring team participation * Ensure weld quality control * Prepare and maintain production reports * Coordinate departmental maintenance to assure minimal production downtime * Scale weld department for volume, efficiency, and cost * Develop detailed, complete, and accurate capital equipment studies to make appropriate recommendations for capital expenditures * Prepare of departmental budget * Apply industry knowledge and experience-based standards and best practices to the design of Nikola powersport vehicle portfolio **You Have:** * B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Weld Engineering or Weld Technology degree preferred * Eight or more years related experience, powersport or automotive industries highly desirable * Extensive knowledge of GMAW, both robotic arm, and manual station * Understanding of GD&T * Experience with CAD with DMU and CAE applications is desirable. (Preference for Catia V5/V6 experience) * Proficiency with PCs (MS Office, Google Suites) * Experience and understanding of project timeline for vehicle design, engineering, test, and development programs * Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
